Waffles and Spaghetti

Sounds good doesn't it. Actually, Guys are Waffles, Girls are Spaghetti is the new book by Chad Eastham. Chad is one of the main speakers at Revolve. I didn't get to go to Revolve this year, due to Brianna's Girl Scout ceremony. Lonnie let me borrow his copy of the book, but I may have to get my own copy to highlight in. Let me explain the title. Guys are waffles because the compartmentalize their thinking. They keep things seperate, while girls connect everything. It's like a big jumble of spaghetti. I'm almost finished, but wanted to share some things that have smacked me upside the head from the book:

When the devil talked to Eve in the Garden of Eden she took the words to heart. She believed when he told her she wasn't good enough. Today, we, girls, still believe the lies, that we aren't good enough, we don't like who we are, we compare ourselves to others.

Girls want to know their lives matter. "They want the world to be a better place because they are in it."

"Did you know that 55% of your communication with the people you already know comes from your body language? Another 38% comes from your tone, while your actual words make up only 7% of your communication. How you say things is about 13 times more important than what you say." WOW! I'm always telling Brianna, it's not what you say, it's how you say. I never realized how important it is. This is something that I am terribly guilty of and am going to really work on. Body language will be hard, for me it's something I do unconsciously.

Today is Mr. David's birthday Happy birthday Mr. David! I know he reads this, so here are some pictures to brighten your day.
Alex with Brianna's tutu on. He also has on his butterfly wings and a headband! The library was handing out vampire teeth at the Candy Crawl on Friday. Alex loves playing with them.

The pictures I posted Tuesday were from Halloween day. Here are pictures of the kids before the Candy Crawl. Brianna before we got her tie dye finished.
