I just heard these statistics on GMA and was shocked:

1 in 50 kids in America are homeless.

The average age of the homeless in America is 9.

40% of families in America are homeless.

These are working families that don't make a living wage!! How is this the "land of opportunity" with so many kids and families that don't make enough to live off of?!?! This is such a big problem in Orange County California, there is a school just for these homeless children! What can a stay at home mom in NC do about this? I don't know, but will find out!
