GREAT Weekend

We had a great weekend. On Friday afternoon I went to parent/teacher conference for Brianna. They won't let you have the first report card of the year unless you conference with the teacher. She is doing really well in Third Grade. She made a 4 on her EOG Math Pre-test. If you don't know the grading scale for that is 1-4. After that we went to Sonic, we had a pretty good week and the kids love slushes. We were supposed to have rock group at the pumpkin patch, but cancelled because of the rain.
Saturday we got up and went to the NC State Fair in Raleigh. We had such a good time.
At our gate, there was a grist mill with a water wheel. I thought it would make a great picture. Brian snapped a couple and we were right!

There were statues of horses, cows, and chickens in the fairgrounds. Different schools from around the Raleigh area painted them according to different themes. Brianna was a girl on a mission, she wanted pictures of them all!

Bri's favorite was the Horse of a Different Color from the movie The Wizard of Oz. The Wizard of Oz is probably one of Bri's favorite movies. Notice the red sparkly hooves and the house with the legs sticking out. She was so excited about these statues, especially this one. She had to tell me what she wanted close up pictures of. We probably have 5 of this one horse. All Bri could talk about was writing about it in her writers journal at school.
The kids with Ronald McDonald!

Alex with Elmo and Cookie Monster.
This lamb wanted Alex's balloon.
Yes, that's a pig painting a picture. Brian and Brianna watched him for quite a while. He, sorry his owner, was even selling calendars with his artwork. The temperature stayed about the same all day.
One of the things that impressed me the most was how clean the bathrooms were. With a kid potty training, we had to go quite a bit. There were two attendants working each one to keep it clean. In one of the bathrooms the attendants had their stalls numbered and were telling people which stall to go to. It also had lotions, hair spray, candy, and even a couch they had their stuff together.
Sunday we had a church service in a tent on our land. It was so great just to be sitting there where our building will be. Jimmy had a great sermon and Brianna had a blast painting her pumpkin with children's church. Sunday night was Converge on The Land and Travis had a great message. We also got another load of pumpkins to stock the patch with.

awww...the State Fair - I grew up going there but haven't been for years. Loved it! I know exactly where that mill is you took that picture at. Glad you had fun!
