This weekend was spent with lots of snuggles, laughs, and family time.
Friday night the kids and I put on our pajamas and headed out to see Christmas lights around town. We were all tired from the week and needed some down time.
Saturday we didn't do much of anything until later in the afternoon. Then, we hit the mall and Target to get some Christmas shopping done. I still have a good bit to do, but am going to knock it out on Monday, hopefully.
Sunday afternoon Alex had a birthday party to go to. His buddy Parker turned 7 this week and he had a party at a laser tag place. Alex was in hog heaven!! He came out of the last session sweating and smiling. He LOVED it and has asked to go back for his birthday.
I steered away from the news this weekend. When I learned that the children who died were all in first grade, I just couldn't watch anymore. Maybe I am sticking my head in the sand, but I just can't. We will never know why this man did what he did. Frankly, I don't care! I don't care why. I'm reading on FaceBook how schools should be more secure. This school had a buzzer system where you had to be buzzed into the building. Did it stop this nut job? NO, it didn't. Both the kids schools have lockdown procedures and both kids know what will happen when and if they go on lockdown. On Friday when I first learned of the shooting, I was in Alex's class. On the playground, the teachers were talking about what they would do if it was their school. They all have a personal plan on top of the official school plan.
