I was so glad to finally reach the weekend. I was ready for the week to end. It had been a super busy, stressful, emotional week.
Friday night was the homecoming dance at the middle school. It was a huge success! The story of the night, was an autistic, extremely shy girl decided to come to the dance. She was very nervous when her mom brought her in. Mom stayed with her and then I heard her tell the girl she would be okay. As mom was walking away, I asked her if the girl was okay. She explained what was going on. I asked her what I could do to make this a better experience. So, she introduced us and made sure the girl knew that she could come to me and we could call home if she was ready to leave. As she was working her way down the hall, Bri came out and asked me if the girl was okay (Bri had no idea what was going on at that point.) I explained everything to Bri and she asked if maybe the girl would go into the cafeteria with her. I told her, I loved her and was proud of her, but I did not want to add any stress to the girl. It took her a while to work her way down the hall to the cafeteria, but she did it! She walked in with some people she knew. She didn't even come to me and ask to leave early! Bri kept her eyes on her and gave me updates throughout the dance.
Saturday and Sunday I literally spent in sweats resting. I was beyond exhausted!
