Bri just shared this poem with me that she wrote in Language Arts class and it made me more happy than the glass of wine I had after two meetings at two different schools.
If I Were in Charge of the World
If I were in charge of the world
I'd cancel homework,
Mondays,
broccoli and kale, and also
Justin Bieber
If I were in charge of the world
There'd be brighter skies,
minions, and
dreams as big as the moon.
If I were in charge of the world
You wouldn't have slow internet.
You wouldn't have storms.
You wouldn't have math class,
or "Stop fighting with your brother."
You wouldn't even have arguments.
If I were in charge of the world
A piece of cake would be a vegetable.
All people would be respectful.
And a person who sometimes forgot to listen
And sometimes forgot to make good decisions
Would still be allowed to be
In charge of the world.
