Happy Halloween everyone. I love Halloween, I think it's because I know there is candy involved. If I could get a bag of Tootsie Rolls, Snickers and Butterfingers, I would be one happy fat girl. Sonya HATES Halloween, so don't go to Shelby looking for candy from her. What was your favorite candy to find in your treat bag or that you talk your kids into giving you now?
One Halloween I remember Sonya, Momma and I all dressed as clowns. Sonya and I had matching clown costumes, teal with pink dots. Momma's was cream with black dots. Momma made those costumes. One year Sonya dressed up as an old woman, that one was really good. Good or bad, what costume do you remember?
I have a couple of errands to run today. My wonderful Middle School girls collected candy for the kids at CVAN, the battered women's shelter, to make treat bags. So, The Littles and I are going to deliver those. Then, I think Robin and I are going to vote. It will be much easier today with just two kids than on Tuesday with three. When I told Alex we were going to vote, he said, "Vote for Becca." Alex is going to start a grass roots effort to elect Becca for President. Then in the car he yelled out all of the Davis girls names to vote for. I talked to Becca this morning and she is preparing for a debate. In one of her classes they are debating the Presidental canidates. I think that is a great assignment for them. It gets them to really look at the issues and think for themselves. After that I have to go to BJ's to buy candy for Trunk or Treat tonight. Yep, I am such a slacker that I am just now buying my candy. Have a safe Halloween tonight everyone!

Recipe Request
Mrs. Carol requested that I post this recipe after I commented on Facebook that I am making it.
Chili Cheese Dip
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1 can Hormel chili, NO BEANS
1 small can diced green chilies
1 small can sliced mushrooms, drained
onion, chopped
Shredded cheese
Layer all ingredients in the order listed. Bake at 350 until cheese is melted. Serve with tortilla chips.
I have also added olives. The mushrooms and onion are optional, it's really good without it, but even better with. I made this for Brian to take to work last night and they requested more, so I am making more tonight.

Wonderful Women
On Sunday I was approached about our family being in the Christmas play at church. I said yes, and told Brian our family is in the Christmas play. Brianna and I will be speaking. Want to know the best part about the play?! The wonderful leaders of The Way, Nikki and Jennifer, wrote the play. Brianna loves everything about They Way. She looks forward to it every month. Jennifer, Nikki, and Kim do a great job teaching our kids in that group. I know they don't get the thanks they deserve, but as a parent I am very grateful for all their work and time they put into my kid! Thanks for all that you do ladies!

Four
I found this on Kate's blog, who is pregnant by the way. Congratulations to the whole Walser clan on the new one! Anyway, here's the game. Go to your photo folder on your computer. Then go to the fourth photo file. Pick the fourth photo in that file and blog about it. So here we go!
Trained Rat
I decided this morning that A T Allen Elementary has the parents trained like a bunch of lab rats. Normally when we drop kids off, there is a police officer on 601 directing traffic so things don't get backed up. When we leave the parking lot, we have to wait on the officer to let us turn right onto 601. Today, the officer is standing there and no traffic is coming. I still stop and wait for him to tell me to turn. Anyway, they have us parents trained pretty well!

Weekend Update
We had a pretty good weekend. Friday was really normal, and that's what we needed, was some normal.
Saturday morning, Alex came through the house with this whistle in his mouth.
Saturday afternoon my parents came down. My mom made me a bracelet with the kids names and birthstones on it. I LOVE it. I wear it all of the time! Alex wanted to play horsey with PawPaw, but Daddy was moving around so Alex got Momma to put him up there. It was really funny. When he sat down, he held on to Daddy's shirt and said, "Geddy up."
Saturday night I worked the pumpkin patch with some of the Middle School girls. We had a great time. We went on the haunted hayride, which was pretty funny. It was funny, because we knew who was who. The best part of the hayride was when Garrett started driving the truck before Travis was in the back and Travis had to jump in.

A Couple of Things
Here are a quick couple of things:
I got this email from my mom this morning updating Sonya and me on our uncle:
"Steve got his portocath put in on Wednesday. I got him home around 3 pm after the procedure and a stop at the drugstore.
Dr. Reese told him on Tuesday that this chemo would not cure him – it might shrink the tumors and give him a little more comfort, but there was no cure. I think it sunk in once Dr. Reese told him. He seems OK with it – said he was going to try the chemo but if it was too horrible, he’d quit and just take what time he had left. They have assured him this chemo will be much worse than what he took before (diarrhea, hair loss, nausea, etc.) It’s a lot stronger. His first treatment is Monday the 27th. He will be at Dr. Reese’s from 8:30 until 2:30 for infusion and then go home and home health care will come out and hook him to the automatic pump that he will wear for another 48 hours. That’s about 54 hours of straight chemo! After that, he won’t have another treatment until two weeks from Monday (10th)."
Nana told me when they did a CT scan while Steve was in the hospital a couple of weeks ago that they found a spot in his stomach.
Also our friend Mr. Joe is in the hospital. This is what I know. He is at CMC Pineville with an infected gall bladder. They have him on antibiotics. I don't know a lot as I have not spoken with Mrs. Ellie yet. I did chat with Joey on Facebook. As most of you know Mr. Joe has brain cancer and goes to Duke every two weeks for his chemo.
Please be praying for these two.

Rant
Okay, I have totally got to rant and vent a little.
Why do shirts that say, "No Iron" have to be ironed? I HATE ironing. Most of the time I will burn myself and I just generally don't like it.
We went to Wal Mart this afternoon and the parking lanes are kind of like one way streets. So why do people go up or down them the WRONG WAY?!?! A man almost hit a woman that was coming down the isle, like she was supposed to, and he was going the wrong way.
One more that just popped into my head. We were in Party City this afternoon getting the kids Halloween costumes. They let you try the costumes on there, which is very exciting to me. So, I took the kids to the bathroom to try theirs on, cause of course Alex had to pee. In the bathroom there were three very well endowed women also trying on costumes. One of the ladies commented that Alex was looking at the sparkles on one of the costumes. I hate to tell you lady, but it wasn't the sparkles he was looking at. Why do Halloween costumes have to be trashy, with "stuff" hanging out for God and everybody to see? Leave something to the imagination. Even little girls costumes are getting trashy.

Weird Wednesday
Wednesday was just weird. It started for me at 3:30 am. That's when Brian got home from work. Poor thing had been there since 7 Tuesday morning. Since he worked late, he slept in a little late and didn't go back to work until 11 or so and worked until after 7. I took The Littles to the Harrisburg library. I like to take them there, they have toys that keep them occupied. It's also a smaller library, so they don't feel so intimidated. Then we had to run a couple of more errands, which included getting gas. I paid $2.89 for gas. When was the last time gas was under $3? I got so excited. Brianna was talking about gas prices the other day, just how they change so much. I told her when I started driving, I would go to Chesnee, SC and get gas for 99 cents a gallon! How great would that be now? We would be filling every container we could get our hands on with gas.
Our weekend is shaping up to be busier than I expected it to be. Brian starts working third on Sunday. He will have to work a week on thrid and a week on second, then he will stay on first.

Quiet Time
I am come to really value my quiet time in the afternoons. I have started walking on the treadmill in the mornings while The Littles are watching TV. That gives me a couple of hours to myself. Since the afternoons have been so nice lately, I have been sitting on the swing a my Bible and a book. I have not had my time for the last 4 days and I miss it, so at nap time this afternoon, I am hitting the swing. It's so nice to sit there with no distractions and process stuff.
Brian started his new job yesterday.
I got to sit down with Mrs. Jenny for a little bit yesterday. I LOVE talking to her about anything. She had made some soup in her crock pot and let me taste it. After I ate it, she showed me the ingredients. I was truly impressed with her culinary abilities. She took canned soup, added some frozen meatballs, and frozen mushrooms. It was VERY good. Needless to say, I am totally stealing this recipe. I on the other hand tried to make Nana's Chicken and Dumplins yesterday. They didn't turn out like hers, they were good, but not like Nana's. I have the practice make perfect mentality about this. I think I got the flavor right, but not the consistency. It's hard to make something when there is no recipe and it's a little of this and a little of that.
Alex is being very mean today. I have got to get him under control.
I am such a dork. A couple of days ago Brian was reading my blog and I walked by and thought I really like that song that's playing. The next song came on and I thought the same thing. Well, duh! I picked the songs I like to put on my blog. Such a dork.
I am looking forward to the weekend already. My middle school girls are meeting at the Pumpkin Patch on Saturday for pizza and haunted hayrides. My parents are thinking about coming down. I asked my mom to make me a bracelet with the kids names on it and she has it finished. I can't wait to see it! Sunday, we need to take a rest day.

GREAT Weekend
We had a great weekend. On Friday afternoon I went to parent/teacher conference for Brianna. They won't let you have the first report card of the year unless you conference with the teacher. She is doing really well in Third Grade. She made a 4 on her EOG Math Pre-test. If you don't know the grading scale for that is 1-4. After that we went to Sonic, we had a pretty good week and the kids love slushes. We were supposed to have rock group at the pumpkin patch, but cancelled because of the rain.
Saturday we got up and went to the NC State Fair in Raleigh. We had such a good time.
One of the things that impressed me the most was how clean the bathrooms were. With a kid potty training, we had to go quite a bit. There were two attendants working each one to keep it clean. In one of the bathrooms the attendants had their stalls numbered and were telling people which stall to go to. It also had lotions, hair spray, candy, and even a couch they had their stuff together.
Sunday we had a church service in a tent on our land. It was so great just to be sitting there where our building will be. Jimmy had a great sermon and Brianna had a blast painting her pumpkin with children's church. Sunday night was Converge on The Land and Travis had a great message. We also got another load of pumpkins to stock the patch with.

Think People, Think!
Brian and I took the kids to get a haircut at a place in Harrisburg, won't say the name. Anyway, I have decided that people should think about their clothing choices before leaving the house. Nope, this was not the customers, but the employees. One had an obvious bra issue and the other had on a skirt that was a little short, some dancer shoes and a shirt that was so tight you could see the outline of her belly button. She was cutting some guys hair and her shirt started riding up! What in the world were these people thinking? Wait, they weren't thinking, that's the problem. Anyway, that's my little rant for the day.

A Few Things
Yesterday The Littles and I went to the Pumpkin Patch to have lunch with Mrs. Ellie. We had a great time watching the kids play and talking. It's fun sitting out on the land with her. Sunday we are having a service on the land, can't wait for that. Actually I can't wait to sit and listen to a sermon. I have missed the last two for different reasons.
I just found out last night that my friend Abby's husband, Stacey, did some murals in the Charlotte Extreme Makeover house. The e-mail said he did the murals in Ty's secret project. I can't wait to see that! There is also a special about the house on at 7 on Sunday before the actual show comes on at 8 (a little plug). Abby and Stacey's son, Blake, was Brianna's first "boyfriend." She said he was a boy and her friend. I think they were 3 or 4.
We tried a new recipe last night. It's from the Kraft Food and Family magazine. If you don't get it you should, it's totally FREE! Go to kraftfoods.com/share and get your copy! I always find one or two recipes I can use in it.
Pork Chops with Apples and Stuffing
1 6oz package of Stove Top Stuffing for chicken
1 21oz can apple pie filling
6 boneless pork loin chops
Heat oven to 375. Prepare stuffing according to package directions. Spread pie filling onto bottom of 13x9 inch baking dish that has been sprayed with cooking spray. Top with pork chops and stuffing. Cover with foil. Bake for 30 minutes, then uncover. Bake an additional 10 minutes or until chops are cooked through (160 F).

YAY!
I found Sierra Mist Free Cranberry Splash today at Food Lion. I am so excited. I can't find these in the spring and summer so it must be a fall winter thing. I am not a big soda drinker, but love these! I also bought a new Taste of Home magazine. It's going to be a good day!

Time Alone
This afternoon while The Littles were napping, I turned off the TV, grabbed my Bible and book and headed out to the swing. I got some much needed reading and quiet time. I feel much better after my time alone, just had a lot going on in my mind and needed to sort things out. I'm still confused about some things, but feel certain they will work themselves out.
Brianna
I want to copy something that come home in Bri's folder yesterday. We get her work from the previous week on Monday's. This came home yesterday:
"Hello my name is Brianna. My grandparents make me a spoiled princess. I also like to go shoping. My favorite show is Hannah Montana. One of my favorite movies is Camp Rock. I love ocean animales."
I thought this was so cute.

Where Did It Go?
Where did the weekend go? What was a nothing to do weekend quickly turned into lots to do. Friday Olivia left at lunch time for her dentist appointment. Maria said she did a great job. Robin called Friday afternoon wanting to know if I could pick up our friend Leigh's daughter, Jessie. Leigh fell at work, broke her wrist and elbow and had to have surgery on both. After Bri got off the bus, we went to the high school to get Maranda. She stayed here with my kids, while I went to get Kaylee, Jessie and Becca. We had a full house Friday afternoon. I loved it though. I had already planned on getting Kaylee and Becca to spend a little time with them and had already made brownies and bought ice cream. So, when everyone got here we had brownies and ice cream. It was very yummy. After everyone left the kids and I went to hang out at the pumpkin patch with Mrs. Ellie and Mr. Joe. The kids always have a great time at the patch. On the way home my girl Shannon called to line up some help for Leigh while she is recoperating. She told me about Angel Food Ministries. You can order a box of really good food for $30, to feed a family of 4 for a week. I think I am going to order a box this month, but I have to order it today.
Saturday we went to Pineville, we are still on the hunt for clothes for Brian's new job. Thankfully his start date was moved to the 20th. We also let the kids spend their Target gift cards they got for their birthdays. Alex got a garbage truck that picks up a dumpster and opens in the back and he got a bulldozer. Bri got some Littelest Pet Shop, a puzzle, and some new books. Alex wore his big boy underwear and didn't have an accident. He did such a good job, I was so proud.
Sunday after church Bri and I had to go to Wal Mart to get a gift for a birthday party she was invited to. We went to the party that afternoon. She had a great time. I stayed at the party with her and helped the mom with the kids.
Alex and I saw Robin, Becca and Kaylee leaving our neighborhood. It totally made Alex's day to get to see Becca and Kaylee that early. Today I have got to go order my box of food, if I am going to get it. Tomorrow I have an appointment at the consignment shop and Liz and Joey will come over for supper. On Wednesday The Littles and I are going to eat lunch at the pumpkin patch with Mrs. Ellie. Friday afternoon is my conference time with Brianna's teacher. So, it's already shaping up to be a very busy week.

Alex Funny of the Day
So I was just sitting here with Alex in my lap. I started throwing him up in the air. He's heavy, so I only did it twice. He looked at me and said again, then he flashed those dimples at me. I am such a sucker for those dimples. So, I did it one more time. When I caught him and sat him back in my lap, he looks at me and said, "I peed my unnawear." Was I literally scaring the pee out of him? I laughed so hard I almost peed my "unnawear."
Exciting Trip
Since school has started back and I don't have my helper Brianna, I have been buying groceries at night. Normally on Thursday. I hate going to WalMart, the money I spend there, people poking along, and men with lists when they don't know where anything is. To make it worse, it's race weekend here in Concord. I love the race, love watching them, would probably love to go to one, but these huge groups of men descend upon WalMart to stock up on their supplies. This supply list includes enormous amounts of meat, eggs and bread. There were NO hamburger or hot dog buns last night. Anyway, that's not what was exciting about my trip. When I was walking into the store, there were cops everywhere. Yep, several people were being arrested for shoplifting. I have not seen a good shoplifting takedown since I stopped working at WinnDixie. We had a manager there that would chase people through the parking lot! I think you have to let the person get out of the store with the items before anything can be done. Anyway, it was very very exciting. It made the extra people in there more bearable!
The Littles and I went to eat lunch with Brianna yesterday. She didn't know we were coming. I think it made her day. Today is her school picture day. I used to hate having school pictures made, I still hate having my picture made.
I am going to hop on my soap box for a minute. I saw an interview with Cheryl Burke yesterday, she is from Dancing with the Stars. I am not a big fan of the show, but have watched it a few times. Anyway, she was on there because several bloggers and tabloids have commented about her weight and how she needs to go to Jenny Craig. She is a flippin size 4, she could stand to gain a couple of pounds. It just seems ridiculous to me that people are criticized for their weight. Does this determine who they are? If someone is overweight does that mean they are a horrible person? Do people think that because she is a "celebrity" it gives them free reign to say what they want? What gives anyone the right to blog and demean people for their weight? Nothing does. Brian doesn't even say anything about my weight, not even when I was at my biggest, which was over 300. Okay, I am hopping off the soap box now.

Couple of Things
Here are a couple of things from today:
Brianna will probably get her braces off in February! When she goes back to the orthodontist in December they will take her impressions for her retainer.
Alex wore his underwear to the orthodontist today. This was the first day he has gone out of the house on a trip without a diaper on. The best part, he didn't have an accident! He told me when he had to go to the bathroom. I think it helped that I put his gummy bears in my pocket book.
My uncle had to stay in the hospital tonight. They will do some tests tomorrow and then decide if they can put the stint in his liver to relieve the blockage. If they can, it will be done on Friday.
I got the best card in the mail today. It was so sweet, made me cry. It came at just the right time too. I have been really struggling with teaching my MS Girls, but this just makes me realize Robin and I are doing something right and to keep going. The note was from Annie and it just let me know how much fun she is having with us. I love all of "my girls" and don't think they know how much they mean to me. Can you tell it made my day?!
Gearing up for Project Runway tonight, man I hope Kenley gets the boot tonight. I am about tired of her attitude.
I am looking for a place to take some fall pictures of the kids. I would love to find something kind of scenic with lots of trees. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

What a Day
I can already tell that today is going to be one of those days. Both of The Littles have been in time out for various reasons for most of the morning. It's not looking like Bri's orthodontist appointment will be a very pleasant experience.
I just had an interesting conversation with Olivia. She told me she needed make up to be beautiful. I asked her if make up makes you beautiful. She said, "yes." I told her you don't need make up to be pretty or beautiful. It makes me sad that girls are being raised to think they are not beautiful the way they are. What's wrong with the face God gave you? I wonder what Bri thinks about this. I will talk to her about it in the car this afternoon. I always make sure to tell her she looks beautiful, cute or pretty everyday, no matter if she has on her pj's or is dressed up.
My mom is bringing my uncle to a doctor's appointment in Charlotte this afternoon. He will find out today if anything can be done about the blockage in his liver. I will post an update here as soon as I hear something.
I have started running on the treadmill again. Not to train for anything, just running at my pace and as long as I can stand it. It also is helping to break the monotany that sometimes happens when I am on there walking.

Late
I absolutely hate being late. It makes me very anxious to know I have to be somewhere at a certain time and I am going to be late. It's very rude and people don't know if you are coming or not. They don't know whether to wait on you or just go ahead and do what was planned. I especially hate it when I have to depend on someone else to give me something before I can leave and they are always late, therefore it makes me late. I was always told, if you are not five minutes early, you are late.

Busy Weekend
We had a very busy weekend. On Friday our Rock Group got to hang out at the Pumpkin Patch. It was so much fun. We just sat around talking while the kids played.
Jimmy was pretending he didn't like wearing his suit and tie. Just kidding. He always tells us that if he is wearing a suit you are in trouble, because you are either getting married or buried.
Brian and I got Momma to take our picture since we were all dressed up.
Brian and Amos.
Me with Maranda and Becca. Kaylee was too busy helping serve and make sure the food was filled.
Travis dancing. Notice he is watching what Amos is doing! We had such a good time. It's rare that Brian and I get to go out, just the two of us. Momma and Daddy kept the kids while we were gone. Brianna is still telling me what a good time she had with them. Alex and Daddy laid in the living room floor on pillows and took a nap. Brianna showed them how to ride her scooter.
Saturday morning we had to take the pants that we bought Brian the weekend before back to Kohl's. They shrunk in the washer and dryer. Saturday afternoon was April and Brandon's wedding. It was so beautiful!
I hope they have a very happy life together. Here are some pictures from the reception:

Sunday after church, I had to go buy groceries and then we had nothing to do for the rest of the day. I did fall yesterday, so I had to prop my ankle up. It's funny that I won't get injured for a while, and then 4 or 5 things happen in about a month. We just relaxed yesterday afternoon. Then, I went to the youth service last night. The church we meet with was having revival and the kids sat in the main sanctuary instead of going to do their own thing. It was funny watching the kids from R2C2 in a very traditional baptist church. Brian was excited that Tony Stewart won the race yesterday. He told me about it when I got home from Converge.

Thursday
Yesterday, actually this whole week was weird. I think The Littles have gotten together and made a plan to drive me crazy. One day Alex is all over the place, acting like a turkey and the next day it's Olivia not listening. I would prefer if they would both be good on the same day and both be bad on the same day, but that would make things easy and they aren't going to do that.
Last night, some of us church ladies and Jennifer's mom got together to help Jennifer make food for April and Brandon's reception. We cooked cheese straws and made some mints. Both were easier to do than I thought they would be. I am putting together some spinach dip today. It was nice hanging out with the girls, talking and cooking. I also enjoyed spending time with Jennifer's kiddos, they crack me up.
Tonight we have Rock Group at the Pumpkin Patch. I am so excited. I stopped this morning to get graham crackers and Hershey Bars. Yep, we are making s'mores. I also got some Reese's cups to use instead of the Hershey's. If you haven't tried it, it's YUMMY!
I made a great recipe last night.
Margarita Chicken
4-5 frozen boneless, skinless chicken thighs
1/4 cup dijon mustard
1/4 cup honey
1 Tbsp. soy sauce
2 garlic cloves, minced
4 Tbsp. margarita mix
Mix sauce ingredients in a mixing bowl. Plop the frozen chicken in the bottom of crock pot. Cover with the sauce. Cook on low for 7-9 hours.
This was yummy. We had it with brown rice and corn. I think it would have also been good with a wild rice blend, like Uncle Ben's. Anyway, Alex asked for seconds. I think he is going to be my picky eater, but will learn that you eat what is cooked or you don't eat. I decided a long time ago that I am not a short order cook.

Update
I just talked to my mom about my uncle, Steve. She said he was in a waiting pattern to see what the doctor wants to do after he looks at all of the tests. Thank you all for your emails, comments and phone calls!
New Blog
I found an awesome new blog. I check out this ladies stamping blog everyday. She has decided to share her recipes with the rest of the world. Jenn is posting her monthly menu and the recipes that go along with. I am so excited, cause I am always on the lookout for new recipes. I hate getting stuck in a food rut. Also, we don't eat out that often, so I am always looking for ways to make our take out favorites at home. Here's the link to Jenn's recipe blog, check it out: http://bakecookwithjenn.blogspot.com/.
Tuesday
Tuesday was filled with laundry and more laundry. I am trying to get some of the kids clothes together to take to the consignment shop. It's a big job. I have only gotten rid of a few things and still have most of Bri's clothes. How messed up is that? Anyway, I found a shop that will pay when you bring the stuff in, you don't have to wait for it to sell. You also don't have to go pick up anything that didn't sell.
Went to stamp class at Sharon's last night. She came up with some awesome projects for us to do. Very easy and cute. My hamster jumped on the wheel with ideas for two of the projects. One was a cute Tic Tac cover. I want to get the pink Tic Tacs and make some for Bri's class for Valentine's Day. We also made a packet to put some gum in and a card. All with a Halloween or Fall theme.
I love this time of year. I got out the apple cider this week. Sugar free apple cider with a little caramel flavored syrup, yum!!!!!!!!
On GMA is a story about a teacher running off with her seventh grade student. She was a 24 year old woman, and he was what 12? When she gets out of prison the student will be an adult and her daughter will be a teenager. I really don't get this. When I was a teacher, I treated my kids like my own kids. I wanted the best for them, but couldn't see myself falling in love with one of them. It honestly makes me sick. It makes me sick that this could possibly happen to my daughter or my son. Okay, I am getting off my soapbox now and getting on the treadmill. I normally walk while The Littles are napping, but Alex woke me up at 5 this morning, so hopefully I will nap while they are.
