Wednesday was just strange! It was one of the weirder days I have experienced in a long time.
I stopped by the lunch room at Alex's school to just give him a hug as I was on the way to my volunteer gig in another classroom. He help up a cup and told me to guess what. Well, I had no clue. He had lost a tooth! We didn't even know it was loose.
Then, I went to volunteer in first grade. I helped the class with their math and a writing piece while the teacher pulled kids into the tutor room next door for testing. While we were working on writing the office called down to the class and told us to send a little boy up there before the end of the day. He heard his name and took off down the hall! There was another teacher in the hall who I asked to keep an eye on the kids while i grabbed him.
As the class was working on math we heard a banging on the back door. I went over, peeked out and saw another class standing there. I opened the door to let them in, thinking they were just passing through. The teacher of the invading class put my class on full LOCKDOWN! She walked in closed the blinds, closed the hall door, started covering the window with paper. I asked her if I needed to cover the back window. She said yes and asked me if the office had made an all call. I told her no, that I had no idea what was going on. Her class was sitting by the cubbies, the class I was in was sitting quietly by their desks. The teacher of the class I was volunteering in was trying to get in the door and no one would let her in. She finally used her key and asked what was going on. All the invading teacher said was that her class and another was told to get off the bus lot, where they were playing, immediately. Finally, everything was sorted out. We were on partial lockdown, no kids outside, because there was a man in the park acting strangely and talking crazy.
That all happened over about an hour! I was exhausted by 4:30 yesterday afternoon.
