Weekend Update

What a weekend. We spent more time at home than we intended.

Friday night we had Rock Group. Brianna and some of the big kids sat on my bed and watched TV. Alex and Olivia played very nicely in his room. They were singing and playing. Jeff brought our nugget for us. He spoke about giving and reminded us it's not always about giving money. Sometimes it's easy to write a tithe check and give that way. It's often MUCH harder to give of our time and talents. I know I don't give of my talents as much as I should. When we finished up, Alex came running out of his room with part of a pirate hook. He lost the hook part, so he put a hanger in the end instead! He came out of his room yellling, "Aaaarrrgh, I'm a pirate." It was hilarious. Then he and Olivia went back to singing in his room. Toward the end of the night Brianna started not feeling well. She said her stomach hurt.

Saturday morning Brianna woke up with a fever and an odd cough. She laid around on the couch all day. I had a Thirty One order to deliver and stopped by Central for their Holiday Shop. Bri had a fever all day, I kept giving her Advil to bring it down. She felt much better when her fever was down.

Sunday morning, Brianna had such a high fever that I called the pediatrician. They have Urgent Care hours in the afternoons. We had to sit in the lobby for quite a while waiting. There was one kid in front of us! But, as we were sitting there, more kids began to file in. The last kid that came in sat near us. Now, this is a pretty big lobby and there was a lot of room, he didn't have to sit on top of us. Brianna has been very clingy since she got up Saturday, I didn't need this kid to sit down near me. I didn't even know why he was in the office. I did know his mom wore her PAJAMAS to the office. (I secretly wish I were that brave.) So, his mom had bags for him. Hmmmmm, what's he need that bag for? So, I sat there praying, "Please don't let this little boy throw up in a bag in front of me. Cause Lord, if he does, I may need a bag." Thankfully they finally moved to another part of the lobby so he could lay down. Brianna just has a virus, so it has to run it's course. We saw Dr. O'Brien and I just love him. He is so nice. We saw him when Brianna was in first grade and she cut her chin on the playground. Anyway, he said she should be on the back end of the fever and should start to feel better soon.

Friday night I made a mashed sweet potato recipe I saw on Rachael Ray. I've made these before, they are super easy and the kids really liked them. I found the recipe on her site, but it's hidden and a little hard to find so I will post it here.
