Love/Hate Relationship

I have a love/hate relationship with Wal Mart. I love that I can get everything we need there, I love the prices and that they price match. However, I hate that there are never enough cashiers on a Friday morning and that the customer service STINKS. Can you tell where I have been this morning? After buying groceries, which consisted of looking for raisins for 10 minutes (they are by the Cheez Its? It took me another couple minutes to find the Cheez Its.) it was check out time. I started by looking for Ms. Eva. Ms. Eva is my favorite cashier. She wasn't there, this should have been a sign to abandon the buggy right there! But, no, we pressed on. There were only 3 registers open, one of which was an Express Lane and all three were backed up, like it's going to snow backed up. There were 2 CSM's floating around, doing nothing. As a former CSM, this really ticked me off! I was taught that a CSM is to get on a register when it starts getting backed up. HELLO! Your title is Customer Service Manager! You are there to make sure the customer service is good, or at least there is a timely checkout. Finally a very nice, very aggrevated lady asked me if I needed cigarettes, maybe by this point a cigarette is exactly what I needed). I told her no, she took my buggy to an empty check out and started ringing up my groceries.

The whole time Ms. Cashier was ringing up my groceries she fussing and complaining. Supposedly her job was to "stock 82." Whatever in the world that means! I didn't care, she was up front and perfectly capable of running a register. Ah, but I stumped her. I bought a butternut squash. She didn't know the PLU (product look up) for the squash. So, she had to hunt down a produce look up sheet! Guess what? Butternut squash isn't on the look up sheet, for some strange reason. AND the one I wanted didn't have a handy dandy little sticker on it telling her what the PLU is. By this point, I'm getting more and more frustrated. The cashier is complaining like there is no tomorrow about what she is supposed to be doing, so I tell her to just forget the squash. I will go somewhere else and get it!!! I then asked her if talking to a manager would do any good and she said no to call 1-800-WAL-MART. Then, she tried to convince me it wasn't her fault. Really? Not your fault? The whole time you have been ringing up my groceries you have been fussing and complaining! By this point, I'm mad.

So, after the wonderful experience with Ms. Cashier, I marched myself over to the customer service desk and asked to speak to a manager. Who shows up? The doing nothing CSM!!! I told her I wanted to speak to a store manager. While we were waiting she asked if she had done something wrong. I gave her the look and thought about what I was going to say. Alex is with me and I want to be an example and not lose it in front of him and everyone else in Wal Mart! I told her yes, she had done something wrong. I then asked her why she didn't get on a register when she saw everyone standing in line. She gave me some lame excuse about when you have some kind of book thing you can't be on a register. That sounded like a bunch of bull to me. I just gave her the eye roll and waited for the manager to show up. I then proceeded to unload on the manager, still trying to keep my composure. Then I called the 800 number and filed an official complaint.

Great! Now I know what to do when our WalMart shows no customer service initiative! I think those folks just want a paycheck - they don't want to work!! Mom
