We went to Curriculum Night at the middle school last night and it was very interesting, to say the least. Not really sure the science teacher knows what she is doing. Brian helped Bri study for her test and they had a question about one of the questions on a worksheet the class had completed with the teachers hlep. So, Brian asked her last night. We really just wanted to make sure Bri was studying the right thing for her test. The question had to do with reading the periodic table like a grid, but was worded wrong. The question was something like: what is the non-metal in group 13 row 3. Well, the element in 13, 3 was a aluminum, which is a metal. The teacher told the class to just move over to the element to the right. Well, Miss Science Teacher, that would be the element in 14, 3! Anyway, Brian asked her about it and she told him not to worry about it, it wouldn't be on the test! I just don't think she is comfortable with the chemistry part of the curriculum.
Then, we went to talk to the math teacher and she took a verbal beating from the parents. It just seems like she isn't going over the material for the quizzes before she gives them on Thursday. She said the math book is trying to get the students to do the problems themselves. Well, there seems to be absolutely no guidance from the teacher! She isn't teaching, she gives out the homework for the week on Monday, takes it up on Friday and doesn't let the kids know what is right or wrong.
On a much, much better note, Bri and I got texts this morning from Chick-Fil-A for free chicken biscuits. We stopped and got her one for lunch and one for Brian. After I dropped her off I stopped and got one for Alex. I didn't want him to feel left out. If you haven't signed up for your local Chick-Fil-A's text program, do. There is normally a sign hanging up in the restaurant. When we lived at the old house, I got offers all the time.
