Weekend Update

Friday Bri had two friends over.  What did these wild and crazy girls do on a Friday night?  They played Math 24, painted their nails, and for supper we had pizza and ice cream sundaes.  Alex had a sleepover in my bed since Brian worked third this weekend.  He's been wanting to sleep in my bed for a while, so I told him when Daddy had to work at night he could.  Since Bri had friends sleeping over, I had a little boy sleeping over.

Saturday I got up and the girls had made me coffee!  So, I made them pancakes for breakfast.  One friend had to leave to go to a softball game while the rest of us went to Girl Scout Thinking Day.  Each troop had a different country with posters and questions so the girls could go to each and earn a stamp on their passports.  The girls had a great time and Alex and I enjoyed sitting outside playing.  Well, he played and I read.  After Thinking Day we got some lunch and let the girls look around in Claire's.  If I had a quarter for the number of times Bri asked for some kind of earring I would be able to afford it all!  Then we were home for the night.  Alex decided he wanted to sleep in the floor, so I moved one of his mattresses to the floor.  I don't know what he likes about sleeping in the floor, but he loves it.

Sunday morning started with me taking Alex to the Minute Clinic.  He's just had this cough and stuffy nose for a while and I wanted to make sure nothing else was going on.  She checked his ears and listened to his lungs.  Everything was clear.  But, he has a pocket of fluid in his right ear.  She let me see it!  I've never looked in the kids ears and it was totally cool!  Anyway, she started him on some Flonase, told me to change his allergy medicine, start Mucinex, and saline nose spray.  When it was time to leave I told Bri we needed to buy half the pharmacy for her brother.  She thought I was kidding until she say what all we left with!  For supper I made a "Skinny Chicken Parmesan."  I got the idea from a website, but didn't follow the recipe, just used it as a starting point.  I grilled some chicken breasts.  Then, topped with a little spaghetti sauce and some Parmesan cheese.  Stick that under the broiler to melt the cheese.  I served it with whole wheat spaghetti and salad.
