Weekend Update

This is what I found when I was looking through the pictures on the camera. She thinks it's funny to take pictures of herself and not tell me until I find the goofy things on the camera.
Brianna's new footie pajamas. She loves them!
I'll start my weekend update on Wednesday. Wednesday the kids and I cooked, I had some Thirty One catalogs to deliver and some general running around. After all the running around and making supper, I took Brianna and Kaylee to see the new Harry Potter movie. It was really good. Poor Kaylee cried when Doby died. She said he was her favorite. Brianna hadn't read the book yet, but I let her see the movie anyway. Since the movie will be in two parts, with the second part coming out over the summer, I figured she's got time to read the book. If it's not read by the time the second one comes out, she will have to wait.

Thursday we headed to my mom's for Thanksgiving lunch. It was fun sitting around talking, playing with Cragan and of course eating. Lunch was delicious! Daddy fried a turkey. Momma made dressing. Man, I love that stuff! I took the kids outside after lunch. Momma's neighbor has dogs that bark, a lot. Cragan loved watching them. She would bark at them, when she barks it's more of a blow though. She had a raquet in her hand that she would shake at the dogs. Then, she would walk a little closer to them. All in all, it was a pretty calm Thanksgiving. Michael and his family were missing and of course we all missed Uncle Steve.

Friday morning Sonya and I got up early and braved the crowds in Spartanburg. I really had no intention of buying any Christmas presents. I only went to spend my birthday gift cards for Old Navy and Target that Brian and the kids got for me. I broke down and bought a few presents. The deal of the day was a $4 candy dish at Kohl's. We didn't get to see anyone behaving crazy or anything. The line at Target was loooooooooooooong, so we didn't get anything there. We really didn't want to stand in that line. When we got home, I took a quick nap while Brian and the kids were in Daddy's shop. While I was sleeping the kids nailed some boards together and they all made a plan to make rabbit boxes when we go back for Christmas. Alex is excited to catch a rabbit. I wonder if he will freak out if they really catch one. I know I don't want him to touch it to much, what if it bites him and give him rabies or something? We hung out at Momma and Daddy's for a bit, then headed to Shelby to eat supper at Bridges BBQ with Amos, Sonya and Cragan. I was so excited to get to eat some good BBQ. There is such a difference between the BBQ I grew up eating and what people call BBQ here! It's a Western versus Eastern NC thing. Westerday NC BBQ is more sweet and ketchup based, Eastern BBQ is more vinegar based. Alex only wanted to eat hush puppies, I did manage to get him to eat some of my BBQ slaw and some of Brianna's fries. Brianna is still fighting that virus she had last weekend, so when we got home I gave her some Benadryl, she hasn't been sleeping good at all. So, yeah, I drugged her up so she could get some sleep. She felt much better Saturday when she got up.

Saturday I worked on the laundry mountain and we went to buy groceries at Wal Mart. Nothing exciting happening in Wal Mart either. I did get to see my favorite cashier, Ms. Eva. If a cashier knows how to do the price matches I often have and not take her time, I will go to her time and time again. Plus she's really sweet. It was time for her break but she told the lady she wanted to ring "Alex's mom" up first. I normally can't stand being in Wal Mart, but Saturday wasn't so bad. I guess all the crazies were there the day before.
Sunday we stayed home. Brian got down the Christmas tree and all the decorations. Alex thought it was the funnest thing to climb the ladder into the attic. Then, Brianna had a turn, all while Brian was in the attic looking around.
Yes, Alex wore shorts while decorating the tree. He likes to pick out his own clothes and hasn't learned yet to pick out the cold weather stuff. Brianna thinks it's hilarious to wear the tree skirt as a skirt. She learned this while staying with Sonya and Amos one year. After the tree was decorated, Brian and I cooked supper. I normally don't like it when people are in the kitchen when I am cooking, but it was nice to have the extra hands. After supper and Brianna's bath (where Alex locked her in the bathroom with the light off) Alex and Brianna played Go Fish in the living room floor. Brianna told Alex to go fish, so he looked through the pile to get what he needed!
I've decided to have a cookie exchange at the house this year. Cookie exchange is one of the things I really miss about MOMS Club. So, why not maybe start that tradition with some girlfriends.
