I have completely different things to share today:
Let me tell you about the more heavy hearted thing first. There is a lady at WW, who is the most thoughtful, caring lady. She is currently on vacation, and we missed her terribly yesterday. But this isn't about how much we missed her. She's on vacation in the Middle East, where her husband is from. They are visiting his sisters. As we were talking yesterday about how much we miss her and how thoughtful she is, it was brought up that after 9/11 they had a hard time for a while. They had to change their phone number, get it taken out of the phone book, and take all kinds of extra precautions because her family was receiving death threats. What kind of world do we live in where a nice older couple was threatened because of something they had nothing to do with? It made me angry for them. I understand being angry over the events of 9/11. Believe me, I get it. But this lady and her husband were not driving those planes. They didn't plan these attacks. Be angry at the people who were behind the attack, not an innocent person.
Okay, onto the funny. Last night, Alex and I had a dinner date. Bri had a Girl Scout event at Discovery Place. Her leaders picked her up after school. Anyway, Alex wanted to have pancakes and liver mush for supper. While we were eating he was asking about my job. I told him I was a teacher before Bri was born. He asked if I was going back to work. I told him no, that I just want to work as a mommy. His reply was, "You should get a job as a tattooer. You like watching all those shows." Now, I can't draw a straight line with a ruler, so I don't think anyone wants me to be tattooing them.
Bri isn't allowed to take her cell phone to school during the day. I just don't think she needs to have it. So, since she was going to a Girl Scout event that I wouldn't be going to, I wanted to take her her phone after school yesterday. I also picked up her book bag (if that kid doesn't have back problems when she is older it will be a miracle because her book bag is HEAVY). When we were leaving the resource officer walked out to get into his car. It was a new guy, who is fairly young. Anyway, Alex was excited to count the number of handcuffs he had on his belt. When we were walking away he asked me if the policeman had a taser. I told him I didn't know but could ask. So, we walked around to the car and I told him Alex wanted to know if he had a taser. He took his taser off his belt and showed it to Alex. Well, that made his day! He said that was the coolest thing. He even called Brian at work to tell him about it. Alex knows that if a police officer has a taser that they have been shot with it. Alex said this guy was very brave to have been shot with a taser.
