Scouting for the Cure

I took Bri to Scouting for the Cure today.  She has attended this event two years previously when we lived in Concord.  I have never gone with her before, I have just dropped her off with her troop in the past.  Anyway, I took her and we had a great time.  We even got to talk to the lady who started the now national event.  She was diagnosed with breast cancer when her daughter was 4.  She said her daughter, naturally, had a ton of questions and said when she started her Girl Scout troop that they started learning about breast cancer and breast health.  Eventually it was picked up by the local council, is now nationwide, and there is interest from three other countries.  She even took the time to leave her station and really talk to Bri.  As far as the event itself, there was a ton of activities for the girls to do: make compression pillows for post-surgery patients, make tote bags for survivors, bookmarks for survivors, binder covers for binders for patients to keep calendars, doctor contact information, and research in, make totes for the girls themselves, just a bunch of fun stuff.
