to be the parent of a middle schooler
to be the parent of a kindergartner
for school to start
for summer to be over
The list could go on and on. Tonight was Bri's middle school open house. We were both super nervous. The principal spoke to 6th grade parents at 6. He won me over big time. He seems very no nonsense, they are at school to learn. He wants to get test scores up and it looks like teams are divided by test scores. Low scoring kids are placed in "standard" classes, then kids on grade level are "standard plus," while kids who scored high are "honor" classes. She started giggling and laughing after we met her core teachers. That's how I knew she was okay with everything. I think she's ready for school to start on Thursday.
